Abstrak

Background: There are many clinical situations where the radiologist wants to eliminate the contributions of fat from the total signal without affecting the water signal, such as in wrist joint. There are several fat suppression method, one of them is to apply Frequency Selective Inversion Pulse. SPIR and SPAIR are two method that apply Frequency Selective Inversion Pulse. The purpose of this research was to determine the anatomical information differences of T2WI-FSE fat suppression in coronal sequence wrist joint MRI between SPIR and SPAIR, and also to determine the best method to reveal the anatomical information of wrist joint Methods: The type of this research is an quantitative research with experimental approaches. This research conducted in Premier Bintaro Hospital. Data in form of 32 images of coronal T2WI-FSE Fat Suppression wrist joint from 16 volunteers with two variations of the method, SPIR and SPAIR. Assessment of anatomical information carried out by the two respondents. Data analysis was done by the test of differences, Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. Results: The results of this research show that there is a difference of anatomical information in MRI Wrist joint sequence coronal T2WI-FSE Fat Suppression between SPIR and SPAIR with significance level of p value <0.001 (p <0.05). SPAIR is the method which is clearer to show the anatomical information of wrist joint. The application of selective adiabatic inversion pulse in SPAIR make the suppression and modulation of amplitude and frequency Conclusion: there is a difference of anatomical information in MRI Wrist joint sequence coronal T2WI -FSE Fat Suppression between SPIR and SPAIR with significance level of p value <0.001 (p <0.05). SPAIR is the method which is clearer to show the anatomical information of wrist joint.
